Gaming headsets have taken over in this age of the streamer. We are all quick to find out which headset our favourite YouTubers are using. I know I am guilty of that but YouTubers usually have the good stuff that comes with an expensive price tag. So what are we supposed to do? break the bank? during these hard times where petrol price is raising faster than you can level up.
PDP have released a gaming headset for PS4 users called the Afterglow LVL 3. It’s a mid-range gaming headset that screams bargain and is reasonably priced. I’ll put it out there that this headset has received the Sony stamp of approval. By simply connecting the the 35mm jack to any controller, it works with any controller and in my book that’s good. The last thing you want is to spend your hard earned cash on a device that only works with one of your gadgets. Back to my point of what happens after you connect the audio jack, it works, it’s loud.
The PDP PS4 Afterglow LVL 3 features Powerful 40mm Neodymium drivers. This means that the headset packs a punch in the sound department. Whether gaming online, playing an open world adventure game or listening to your favourite songs off any streaming service, you’ll hear everything clearly. The headsets light weight design makes Netflix and chill a pleasurable experience. Watching series while wearing gaming headphones is a nightmare. They are chunky, I couldn’t put my head down on my pillow and enjoy whatever I am watching. I end up using my iPhone’s headsets and for a change I happy that I can finally disconnect a headset straight from my controller into my laptop.
During theses challenging financial times you need to be wise with your money. Buying products that can perform a number of functions in your life is important. In terms of gaming the PDP PS4 Afterglow LVL 3 comes with a built-in adjustable and flexible boom mic. It came in handy when playing Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. Communicating is key when playing online and your friends being able to hear you is essential. The headset did a great job at that, I could easily mute myself whenever I felt like not talking. The volume adjusts by simply moving the volume controls that are situated just below the cord that connects the microphone.
On the downside the PDP PS4 Afterglow LVL 3 does feel cheap because of the plastic that’s used all around the headset. On the upside one could say that the plastic does make it light and durable. The headset I used for this review had a sponge like padding which I struggled with during these hot summer days. The models of the headset I’ve seen on the internet have a leather covering, so I am not sure if the padding differs from model to model.
At the end of the day what you are looking for is a headset that sounds great and gives you the ability to communicate clearly when playing online. Whether it’s listening to music, watching a move or performing an epic kill streak. The PDP PS4 Afterglow LVL 3 will hold you down during these tough financial times.
It retails for around R699, let me know in the comments section what you think of this product.
