It’s official, Nintendo have won this entire week by announcing Nintendo Labo. They’ve taken the saying “think outside the box” to the next level. Nintendo Labo will transform a cardboard box into one of the coolest gaming peripherals on the market.
The cardboard box will work in conjunction with the Switches Joy-Con Controllers to give gamers a never seen before experience. Players will be able to build a 13-key piano and hold a recital in the comfort of their own home. Gamers will need to own or purchase the Nintendo Switch in order to utilise the Labo. Nintendo Labo is scheduled to launch worldwide in April.
In other news, Ubisoft announced that The Hidden Ones, the first downloadable content (DLC) for Assassin’s Creed Origins, will launch on January 23rd, 2018. Players can continue their journey through Ancient Egypt with a wide variety of content, including several hours of new storyline expansions and quests, timed events and customisation items.
Players will also get the opportunity to discover ancient Egypt thanks to the games new educational mode. The Discovery Tour lets everyone, from players to history-enthusiasts and non-gamers, choose between free roaming the beautiful world of Ancient Egypt to learn more about its history and daily life, or embarking on guided tours curated by historians and Egyptologists. People can discover and explore a world free of conflict, time pressure or gameplay constraints, where storyline and quests are not active and the world of Ancient Egypt evolves into a combat-free living museum.
If you want to try out a new game this weekend, the METAL GEAR SURVIVE Open Beta is taking place this weekend. It will be available on PlayStation 4 and on the Xbox One.
The beta features two maps containing three co-op missions. Participants in the beta will also earn in-game bonus items, which will be rewarded upon the full game’s release:
- One FOX HOUND name plate
- One Metal Gear Rex head accessory
- One bandana accessory
METAL GEAR SURVIVE picks up the action from the ending of METAL GEAR SOLID V: GROUND ZEROES. The much anticipated game will see players being pulled through a wormhole and find themselves in a dangerous world filled with biological threats. The main is to find your way home while fighting off deadly creatures.
Players will get the opportunity to explore and forage the environment for food, water and other resources to stay alive. METAL GEAR SURVIVE will also give players the chance to craft weapons and build a base, where crop growing and animal rearing facilities can be added.
Lastly DONTNOD Entertainment, developers of Vampyr, are giving us an exclusive look at the creative process behind their upcoming action-RPG. In Episode I: Making Monsters, DONTNOD gives more information about Jonathan Reid, the doctor-turned-vampire that players will step into the shoes of in Vampyr.
Vampyr is set in 1918 London, with the city weakened by the recent World War I and ravaged by the Spanish Flu. You’ll be able to grab a copy of the game on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and on PC.
